Feed the plants, not the deer! Jun 29, 2009
By Joanne M. Friedman
"Schoolmarm"
This is by far the best deer repellent on the market. That it also acts as a fertilizer is a terrific bonus. My plants have never looked better. Even the tastiest finally got to bloom without the buds being picked off by deer, and the rabbits seem to have abandoned the area entirely. Just sprinkle it around the garden. There's no nasty odor to ruin your enjoyment of your flowering plants and veggies don't absorb any unpleasant taste. According to the package, the "dried meat" component smells to deer and rabbits like a dead animal, which sends them off to the neighbor's garden which is far less threatening. The instructions say the effect lasts 45 days. That seems pretty accurate. I did indulge my paranoia and reapply around especially tasty plants after a heavy rain, but it was probably unnecessary. It's worth the cost and effort to finally be reminded of why I do all this gardening in the first place. I have lilies! I didn't even remember planting them, it's been so long since I've seen them.

Keeps the Deer Away! Jul 28, 2009
By Marina's Mom The big bonus of this product is not that it keeps the deer away, but that it doesn't keep people away too! Other deer repellents have an odor that is repulsive to humans as well as animals, but this Deer Scram does not keep people from enjoying my garden. I seem to have to reapply every month or so. I can normally tell when my hostas have a few nibbles that the repellent is wearing off. Product states every 45 days, but I have been doing so closer to 30 days to avoid intermittent nibbles. Another plus is that it blends into the mulch of the garden, not colorful pellets like some brands. Just a simple brown powdery substance.

THIS STUFF WORKS! May 29, 2008

Deer Scram is the first deer repellant I've used that really works. And its a multitasker too - fertilizer. We sprinkled Deer Scram around the vegetable garden and flower beds - and nothing's been eaten since. Not the daylillies, hydrangeas or hosta - three of the deer's faves.

Can't live without this! Sep 05, 2010
By Carolyn Baird We just moved to PA from CA. We had an occasional deer in CA, but have many more here. When we first saw the hostas in the house we bought here, there were beautiful hostas under the tree by the front door. Six weeks later when we closed, we were shocked to find that the hosta leaves were gone! My husband commented, "our salad bar for the deer." I went online to research products and Scram was well rated. I bought a six pound container to try it out. My husband was skeptical and said that it would probably smell awful. When it arrived I need his help to open it. Not looking at the label, he took a whiff and said, "It smells like some kind of spice." He was amazed when I told him what it was. I applied it as directed around the poor chewed up hostas. Now, two months later, the hostas have leaves again! I also planted a knockout rose in one of my front beds. A neighbor laughed and said it would be stripped by morning by the deer. I put Scram around it and the deer have not touched my roses! I'm sold for sure and went on to buy a 25 lb. container to refill my 6 lb. one. I'm so happy to have found this product right away.

Works great Aug 10, 2009
By GoHokies I don't go one day without seeing deer in my yard. Usually 5 or more at a time. I have impatiens, asiatic lilies, and a japanese maple...all known to be favorites of the deer. I used deer scram after noticing my impatiens and japanese maple were getting chewed on. I have not had a problem since sprinkling the ground around the plants with this product. I do have to reapply after it rains because the rain washes it away but that is to be expected...nothing lasts forever! This is a great product and as other people have noted is a great fertilizer. My yard is so green where I sprinkled deer scram. Deer scram has no odor and after you sprinkle it you won't give it a second thought. I would recommend this to anyone with deer problems...I haven't had any problems with rabbits so I don't know how well it works on them.
