Adjust-A-Gate 36 2-Rail Gate Kit Jun 24, 2009
By thdrhntr I heard that these gates were the best on the market and I can safely say they are.
I bought three and the first took at least 2 hours to assemble.
The second and third took under 1 hour.
What an excellent product, I ordered these first through Lowes and the pricing was a bit high, three gates with tax. $458
Amazon $230 including shipping, but save you self the headache Home Depot also carries this product $45 each not including tax.
You can save a bundle of money and still get a quality item.

Should call it "Adjust Your Wallet" Aug 27, 2008

I bought 3 of these kits: one for a regular gate, one for a double-gate.
The concept is great. But it won't last (unless you're in Atacama, where it rains once every few years).
I noticed a small paint chip on the metal and a week later (we had some rain in the meantime) there was already some rust.
I took one other gate apart after about 2 weeks and the inside of some of the pipes was already full of rust. I used some rustoleum (I got a clear spray at Home Depot) to protect the "galvanized" metal. Still shows rust.
The double gate kit? It states easy as 1-2-3 with images. The problem is that there are no pre-drilled holes for the drop-rod kit, but you have to drill through the metal gate assembly yourself (of course, there's another spot for potential rust). I called the toll-free number (they have an answering machine) and when they called back they could not even tell me what drill-bit to use.

Great dog gate for large dog Aug 14, 2008
By Becky A. Murphy We tried mulitple baby gates to keep our lab and St Bernard in the kitchen when necessary. They were all too short. We even increased their heights with lattice but it looked tacky. We installed this product between our kitchen and living room. It works great, looks clean and doesn't sag a bit. It can even handle the large dogs leaning and jumping on it. Please note that it was a little difficult to install, so if you are not handy with proper tools, hire a handyman who should be able to do it in about two hours.

Pretty good Aug 23, 2007
By Smokey Shipping was fast. The gates were fairly easy to put up, but buyers should realize that if they want to mount an inward-opening gate between 4x4s that is flush with the rest of the fence (like the one shown in the photo), that additional 2x4s and shimming are required. Otherwise, the gate will be recessed.
Excellent, easy to do upside-down Dec 14, 2011
By SocialServiceDad This item is great and actually arrived the next day for me. The instructions are crap.
Things to note:
1. It says "2x4 or 2x6". No. You need to use 2x4's for the top and bottom rail. You can use whatever you want for the fence face.
2. The adjustment cable needs to go from the TOP on the HINGE side to the BOTTOM on the latch side. The holes are drilled so that you can't do it backwards, but if you mess up and put the left and right sides on backwards, you're out of luck. There aren't any markings for this or instructions for this, so you have a 50% chance of doing it wrong if you don't look first. This is important, because the gate will sag over time, the cable keeps it from doing that. I just drilled a new hole rather than take the entire thing back apart.
3. The cable tensioner comes already tightened down. Back it out before attaching it to give yourself maximum travel over time.
4. Good luck actually getting it to 60" wide. 55 is more accurate. Thankfully my neighbor had bought the next size up and hadn't needed the extra inserts.
5. Height is not limited to 45 inches, that's how high the frame is. My fence is 6 feet tall. (would be taller but code won't allow it.)
6. This thing gets HEAVY. Just know that in advance. It's a great way to install a nice, heavy fence because the hardware can support it. I've got pressure treated 2x4's for upper and lower frame, and then pressure treated 1x6's on narrow, 1/8" spacings across a 62" span, 6 feet tall. That's a lot of weight, and this handles it just fine.
7. You will need a 1/2 bit to drill the holes for the hinges, and even then you'll need to man up to screw them in.
I did not use the latch it came with, I purchased a decorative one. I can't comment on that.
